SCALA · Architecture Playing Cards está de vuelta con nuevos edificios construidos en los últimos cinco años para completar una colección aún más actualizada que refleja la arquitectura contemporánea de mayor relevancia.
En esta segunda edición cabe destacar la presencia de firmas internacionales emergentes tales como Bjarke Ingels Group, Johnston Marklee, O’Donnell+Tuomey o Amanda Levete. Los trece nuevos edificios incluidos se distribuyen entre los cuatro palos de la baraja de manera correlativa, lo que supone la incorporación de un nuevo as, un ‘2’, un ‘3’, y así sucesivamente hasta llegar a la ‘K’.
Estas adiciones conviven con las grandes referencias arquitectónicas de Norman Foster, Álvaro Siza, David Chipperfield, o Rem Koolhaas, que ya figuraban en la primera versión. Las ilustraciones de sus obras, no obstante, han sido ligeramente modificadas y mejoradas para disponer de una colección más refinada, reconocible y compacta.
A estas evoluciones se suma la de un nuevo dorso cuyo diseño integra algunos de los proyectos añadidos, nuevas versiones para los jokers e importantes cambios en el estuche de la baraja.
SCALA · Architecture Playing Cards is back again with brand new buildings from the last five years! Presented along most of the examples gathered in the first edition, they aim to complete a more updated collection that keeps up with relevant contemporary architecture.
The collection is updated with 13 new buildings from the last five years. Distributed among the four suits of the deck, together they create an heterogeneous ‘suit of suits’ by adding some of the most emerging practices in architecture since the previous edition of SCALA until today, such as BIG, Amanda Levete, Johnston Marklee and O’Donnell + Tuomey.
The thirteen new entries are distributed in a correlative sequence, so in this collection you can find a new ace, a new ‘2’, a new ‘3’, and so on until the ‘K’ is reached.
Following feedback from players of the first SCALA edition, both the front and back artwork of the cards has been updated. The architectural drawings were given a facelift in contrast, brightness, and more, while the back pattern was revised to include silhouettes of some of the newer buildings included in the deck. The whole deck comes packaged in a white tuck box with black lettering.
